Book details:
The field of francophone Caribbean literature has been limited by a tendency to engage in historical determinism--explaining present-day behaviors by the past--and will benefit from a new theoretical approach. By employing novel concepts drawn from memory studies, this project will transform existing understandings of the memory of trauma in literature.
The analysis will proceed by close readings of the works of six francophone authors, examining the theme of historical trauma in their autobiographies and fiction. |
